On the 27th Feb, 2010 – Sheffield 5-a-side will be holding a special event in conjunction with and supported by SIV Hillsborough Leisure Centre. This event has earnt the name “ATTRITION” and serves to test those believed strong enough to be part of the world record attempt…
The day will start at 10:00 am and there’s ample space to support, cheer and point at the unfortunates that are taking on this challenge!!! All entrants are requested to register through the site where they’ll be given a designated time to attend and take part. Should you wish to register on the day, the Attrition for the non-registered or disorganised will be from 12:40. All participants are required to make a £5 donation where all profits go directly to Sport Relief…
It’s going to be a great day and we would love to have you all down to celebrate, watch family and friends undertake what can only be described as… an absolute ordeal!!!!!
If you’re reading this, then, may I take the time to say thank you! You, yes you… have stumbled across the very first post, for the Guinness World Record for the longest game of 5 a-side football in the world!!! That makes you a very special person indeed. Well done.
Over the coming weeks, you’ll get to see us, join us and get to know us as we partake of what can only be described as an emotional rollercoaster! We’ve set ourselves the challenge of setting a new Guinness World Record by competing in 30 hrs of competitive football (and more if needs be!). The amount of training and preparation needed in achieving this lofty goal is somewhat staggering… Especially as this is going to be in a city center location.
At the moment, we have a select group of athletes training for the event. They have to undergo regular training schedules and assesments to ensure we bring the record home. To top that, the logistics of planning a city center event is quite challenging. Thankfully, we laugh in the face of challenge, Throw away doubt and cry on the shoulder of despair…. The thing we feel the most is excitement!!
This January, 2010, we will be holding auditions for the team. These auditions have gained the nickname “Attrition” as the are going to an absolute test of will and fitness. The date is yet to be decided, once it is – we welcome anyone and everyone to tryout for one of a selected number of places to play! The registration fee secures your place and (again, we’ll update you once we have set dates) it will be a sum of £5. All profits will go to Sport Relief….
